S&T Landscaping and Irrigation puts on finishing touches at exterior of PetSmart in Sedalia

Despite a cold spring downpour, Jordan Dey, left, and Cory Meyer rake the soil near the front parking area of the soon-to-open PetSmart store on east U.S. Highway 50 and Oak Grove Lane on Wednesday morning. According to Steve Rucker, of S&T Landscaping and Irrigation of Sedalia, the tenants were expected to take possession of the building June 5 and were hoping to open the store in early July.

Steve Rucker of S&T Landscaping and Irrigation of Sedalia uses a large tiller Wednesday morning to break the sod on the north side of the PetSmart store on U. S. Highway 50 and Oak Grove Lane. Rucker said the business would be planting shrubs and perennials at the location. Employees from the business would also lay the irrigation system and seed the landscaped areas as well. Rucker hoped to have the work completed by the end of the week.

According to Steve Rucker with S&T, the business has also been awarded the contract to landscape the new Buffalo Wild Wings store located to the west of PetSmart in the Menard’s shopping complex.

A trailer bed loaded with shrubs and ornamental grasses will soon be planted at the PetSmart store grounds later Wednesday afternoon by employees of S&T Landscaping and Irrigation. Workers from the business were planting the south and east grounds near the building as well as the median beds in the parking area. Hoping to see the project completed by the end of the week, weather permitting, the employees will also lay irrigation systems and seed the areas in grass before completing their work.

The store is expected to open in early July and is one of several new business slated to open in Sedalia in the upcoming months. Meyer works at S&T Landscaping and Irrigation, which has also been given the contract to landscape the Buffalo Wild Wings location adjacent to PetSmart on west U.S. Highway 50 and Oak Grove Lane.
