Lincoln softball headed to Final Four

Lady Cardinals softball, of Lincoln, advanced to the state Final Four in Springfield with a 10-2 victory over Kingsville on Saturday in Lincoln.

Lincoln (21-0) faces Purdy (26-1) on Friday, May 19 at Killian Sports Complex in Springfield for a shot at a Spring Season Missouri State Softball Championship.

After the Tigers scored one in the first, Lincoln took control with two runs in the first and second inning each.

Kingsville and Lincoln played two 1/2 scoreless innings before the Lady Cardinals blew the game open with five runs. Lincoln batted around in the fifth and collected 13 hits over seven innings.

Sloan Swearngin struck out 15 batters in a complete-game performance, surrendering two runs on four hits. She joined Haley Mackey, Genesis Smith, Paige Bybee and Aleah Paxton with two hits in the Lincoln lineup.

HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Sacred Heart 8, Tipton 7 (F/8)

The Gremlins (9-10) advanced to face Lincoln in the Class 2, District 15 Tournament in Lincoln after an eight-inning, 8-7 win over Tipton.

First pitch between the Cardinals and Sacred Heart is 4 p.m. at Lincoln.

Smithton 4, Stover 0

The Tigers (12-7) shut out Stover, 4-0, in the Class 2, District 15 Tournament in Lincoln. Smithton advances to face Windsor in the semifinals 6 p.m. Monday in Lincoln.

Windsor 9, Sweet Springs 8

The Greyhounds (12-7) play Smithton after beating Sweet Springs 8-7 in the Class 2, District 15 Tournament.
