Quick Hits, April 13: Hale breaks long jump record at Camdenton

Keoni Hale set a school record in the high jump and Smith-Cotton boy’s track and field edged Waynesville by 1 1/2 points to claim the Laker Relays in Camdenton on Tuesday.

The Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers placed seventh.

Hale cleared 6 feet 7 inches, winning the event by five inches. He was runner-up in boy’s triple jump with a mark of 43-9 and placed fifth in boy’s shot put with a throw of 41-10.

Nia Hawkins collected points in the girl’s 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash and long jump — finishing runner-up with a mark of 16-8. She ran the 100 in 13.11 seconds and the 200 in 27.02.

Hawkins helped the 4×100 meter relay team of Alyssa Hagan, Sierra Koetting and Sophie Martin place third in a time of 53.39.

Saige Peterson finished the girl’s 800 meter run in 2:28.72, placing second. Erin Laramee won the girl’s 3,200 meter run in 12:49.37.

Nathan White captured the boy’s 800 meter run in 2:02.49. Alex Beard was winner in the boy’s 3,200 meter run in a time of 10:19.27.

Mikayla Gear was victorious in the girl’s discus with a mark of 106-08.

Tyshawn Ward finished third in the boy’s 100 meter dash in 11.57. He helped the 4×100 meter relay team of Zach Powell, Cameron Finley and Chandler Koetting to a second-place finish in 44:36.

Viktor Tsymbal placed runner-up in the boy’s 300 meter hurdles in 42.96 and Irvin Zalpa was runner-up in the boy’s 1,600 meter run in 4:47.08.

Nate McFail cleared 13 feet to claim runner-up in boy’s pole vault.

Smith-Cotton won the boy’s 4×800 relay with a team of Beard, George Gomez, Nathan white and Dmytro Matsko in 8:25.31.

Chandler Koetting, Powell, Ward and Isaiah Robinson were runners-up in the boy’s 4×200 relay with a time of 1:33.50.

Robinson, White, Matsko and Jensen Maloney were second in the boy’s 4×400 relay in 3:29.25.

Bryce Rowles scored points with a third-place finish in the boy’s discus, throwing a 120-07.

Powell was third in boy’s long jump with a mark of 20-6.

BOY’S GOLF

Gremlins golf third at Marshall

Ty Wissman paced Sacred Heart boy’s golf at Indian Foothills golf course in Marshall, carding a 49.

Evan Weaver of Marshall was medalist with a 39.

Marshall won the event with a team score of 169. Boonville finished with 184 and Sacred Heart totaled 211.

Aaron Kennon shot a 51, Teagan Trammell fired a 55 and Jude Rollings finished at 56.

HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL

Lincoln 5, Wellington-Napoleon 0

Sloan Swearngin struck out 13 in a complete-game shutout of Wellington-Napoleon in Concordia on Wednesday.

Haley Mackey, who doubled and tripled, finished with three RBIs.

Paige Bybee had two hits and scored twice.

Lincoln 17, Lone Jack 0 (F/4)

Sloan Swearngin and Aleah Paxton combined for a four-inning no-hitter in a 17-0 victory over Lone Jack on Wednesday in Concordia.

The pair struck out nine combined and walked none. An error in the third accounted for Lone Jack’s sole baserunner.

Swearngin was 4-for-4 at the plate and drove in five runs.
