The Sedalia City Council will host a budget work session at 6 p.m. today to make decisions regarding Fiscal Year 2017-18.

City staff have been working on the budget process for weeks with meetings with each department head and the finance committee, City Administrator Gary Edwards, Finance Director Kelvin Shaw and Mayor Stephen Galliher. Council got a look at budget options and expected revenue streams during last week’s meeting. During tonight’s work session, council will continue those discussions and give staff direction on several budget issues, including personnel requests.

After the work session, council will host a special council meeting to vote on two items related to the Sedalia Regional Airport. The items were on a previous meeting agenda but council chose to table both of them for discussion at tonight’s budget work session per the recommendation from Edwards and Airport Director John Evans.

During the meeting council will:

• Review an ordinance approving and accepting a state block grant agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for design apron reconstruction and north hangar apron expansion at the Sedalia Regional Airport.

• Review an ordinance approving and accepting a state block grant agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for Runway 5/23 study, airport layout plan update and environmental assessment for runway improvements at the Sedalia Regional Airport.

The work session will begin at 6 p.m. in the mayor’s conference room at the Municipal Building, 200 S. Osage Ave. For more information, call 827-3000.
