The first snow of the new year fell early Thursday morning, causing traffic to move at a moderate pace at 5 a.m. along the West Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue intersection. A light snow continued to fall into the late morning hours.

At 4:45 a.m. only the lights of a semi truck are visible in a time exposed photo of Thursday’s snowfall at West Broadway Boulevard and South Ohio Avenue. The National Weather Service predicted sunshine Friday with a high of 16 degrees and a low of 7 degrees.

Although the first snowfall of the year early Thursday morning was dry, there were some slick spots along South Limit Avenue at West 16th Street. No additional precipitation is expected for several days for the Sedalia area.

Snow didn’t keep Papa Jake’s Donut Shop on West 16th Street from opening Thursday morning. Not many people had arrived at 5:15 a.m. to buy donuts, although one of the shop’s employees said she expected more patrons would come in before school began at 8 a.m.
