Stover, Sacred Heart win at Kaysinger soccer tourney

Stover opened the Kaysinger Conference soccer tournament with a 3-1 win over La Monte on Monday.

Noah Whittle and Colton Johannes opened the scoring in the first half for the Bulldogs. Tristan Hackworth then answered for the Vikings off a free kick.

Charlie Black made it 3-1 in the second half off a cross from Landon Thompson.

Maleiah Mugg made eight saves for La Monte.

Stover will face Green Ridge at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

La Monte will face Green Ridge at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Sacred Heart 7, Cole Camp 0

Sacred Heart beat Cole Camp 7-0 to open the Kaysinger Conference soccer tournament on Monday in Stover.

Max Martin opened the scoring in the 26th minute. The Gremlins added another on a header from Will Prenger in the 32nd minute, assisted by Fransisco Rojas.

In the 58th minute, Christopher Mergen made it 3-0 from the edge of the penalty area. Martin added another in the 61st minute. Moments later Chance Spangler added another.

In the 75th minute, Prenger scored from the corner. Rojas added the seventh goal in the 76th minute.

The Gremlins came into the conference tournament off of a fifth-place finish in the Kickapoo Tournament on Saturday with wins over Waynesville 2-0 and Greenwood 5-0.

Sacred Heart will play at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Smithton.

Cole Camp will face Smithton at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
