An Edwards man was arrested Monday night after a two-county vehicle pursuit ended in Pettis County.
Tyler Eugene Maxton, 21, was arrested after the pursuit, which began in Benton County. According to online court documents, he has been charged with resisting arrest and two counts of first degree assault/attempted assault on a law enforcement officer. He has been issued a $100,00 bond, cash or surety.
According to a Pettis County Sheriff’s Office news release, Pettis County deputies, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Sedalia Police Department assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Department with a vehicle pursuit that began in Lincoln. Benton deputies pursued the vehicle into Pettis County, where Pettis deputies assisted.
During the pursuit, Maxton shut off his vehicle’s headlights. The pursuit continued east on Rose Road and continued to U.S Highway 65 where it entered Sedalia city limits and an SPD officer continued the pursuit. The pursuit continued throughout the city east on 32nd Street and eventually continued north, crossing U.S. Highway 50. It then went south on Sneed Avenue to 16th Street where Maxton continued traveling west on 16th Street to Clarendon Road where he wrecked his vehicle.
Benton County and MSHP took Maxton into custody. Benton County will be conducting the investigation and transported Maxton to the Benton County Jail.
Maxton has a criminal history in the area. According to online court records, he served time earlier this year for a theft charge from SPD, as well as another theft charge from early 2016. He has previously been charged with theft and burglary, and has previous traffic violations.
