The Pettis County Ambulance District Board of Directors certified the April 5 election results during its meeting Tuesday night, and the board will remain the same for the next year as incumbents Dave Clippert and Les Harrell were elected to a second term last week.
The board also hosted officer elections and kept those the same as well: Chairman Greg Nehring, Treasurer Jim Bales and Secretary Allan Rohrbach. The board approved an ordinance adopting the 1/2 cent vehicle sales tax, which was approved by voters last week.
PCAD Administrator Mike Gardner gave an update on the first month of service in the Windsor Ambulance District.
“Everything is running really smooth,” he said. “I’ve gotten nothing but compliments.”
Clippert added that he has also heard good things from Windsor citizens.
Revenue has started coming in from WAD calls, about $4,100 collected so far.
For 2016, PCAD has had 1,712 calls and WAD has had 84 calls since PCAD began providing service to the district last month. Gardner said there were about 70 calls for Windsor in the month of March, and he said they’ll be in “good shape” if that rate continues or increases.
“We haven’t had any problems getting anywhere, our GPS is working fine. Dispatch has helped us get where we need to go,” Gardner said. “We had a few glitches with the radio system but that’s normal stuff and we got that all taken care of.”
PCAD has only gotten a few transfer calls for Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Gardner reported. He said he had talked with GVMH about getting more transfers, but was waiting until some changes were complete with EMS at GVMH before possibly bringing up the issue again.
To make sure the Windsor PCAD crew is being utilized, during slow periods they may help with transfers near Sedalia. Employees work on a monthly rotating basis in Windsor.
Gardner noted there’s been a few calls to the south of Windsor, still inside the Windsor Ambulance District, where both PCAD and the Cole Camp Ambulance District responded to the call. He said there’s a bit of a district “border problem,” but that CCAD is gracious and leaves the scene once they find out PCAD has also responded.
In addition to their normal EMS duties, the PCAD employees have been getting involved in the Windsor community, such as helping with activities at the high school.
Nehring gave a quick update on the progress of PCAD’s upcoming satellite station on state Route TT. He reported the structure is up and the roof is on, and crews are now working on plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Masons are scheduled to start work in early May.
Gardner also reported that PCAD’s two new ambulances will be delivered Thursday, and ambulance purchasing is done for the moment, moving the focus to upgrades and maintenance for the current ambulances.
