Icy conditions contribute to crash
A Lee’s Summit man sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Darryl W. Rooks, 56, was driving west on U.S. Highway 50 at NW 1201 Road when his semi-truck began sliding, changed lanes and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Randi L. Perry, 33, of Independence.
Perry’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the road. Rooks over-corrected and traveled off the left side of the road, hit a MoDOT sign and came to rest in the median.
Rooks was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Lee’s Summit Medical Center for his injuries.
Perry was wearing a seat belt, but it is unknown if Rooks was wearing one at the time of the accident.
Clinton man injured in wreck
A Clinton man sustained moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Henry County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Stephen C. Parker, 23, was driving south on state Route A/C at NE 800 Road when his vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole.
Parker, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Golden Valley Ambulance to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.
Sedalia woman hurt in Saline
A Sedalia woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 4:33 p.m. Tuesday in Saline County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Yanira E. Juarez, 40, was driving north on U.S. Highway 65 at 192nd Drive when her vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and overturned.
Juarez, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Saline County Ambulance District to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall with minor injuries.
Warsaw man injured in Benton
A Warsaw man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 5:06 p.m. Tuesday in Benton County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Robert A. Topping, 68, was driving south on U.S. Highway 65, south of state Route T, when he lost control, causing his vehicle to travel off the left side of the road and overturn.
Topping, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance District to Bothwell Regional Health Center with minor injuries.
Knob Noster woman seriously injured
A Knob Noster man sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Heather M. Brainard, 29, was driving west on U.S. Highway 50 at state Route FF when her vehicle began sliding. It traveled off the left side of the road, crossed the median, crossed the eastbound lanes and came to rest on the side of the eastbound lanes.
Brainard, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg for her injuries.
Woman injured in Saline crash
A Memphis, Tennessee, woman sustained moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Saline County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Joyce A. Harris, 50, was driving west on I-70 at the 76.4 mile marker when her vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and overturned.
Harris, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Saline County Ambulance District to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall for her injuries.
Ice-covered road leads to wreck
A Holden man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Adrienne J. McCartney, 39, was driving west on U.S. Highway 50, west of County Road NW 1801, when his vehicle slid on an ice-covered portion of the road, traveled off the right side of the road and overturned.
McCartney, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence with minor injuries.
