Furnell Companies of Sedalia has announced it has begun construction on a 21-unit rental apartment complex in the 200 block of East Second Street in downtown Sedalia.
This project will add to the existing 54-unit apartment complex known as Cromwell Court, located in the 200 and 300 block of East Second Street, said Erica Eisenmenger, Vice President of Furnell Companies.
Eisenmenger said there is a definite need and desire for apartments in the historic downtown area. The new development will consist of three buildings featuring one-, two- and three-bedroom units.
“We are excited to continue and be a part of the redevelopment of our downtown,” Eisenmenger said. “With the continued growth of living units in the downtown area, we look to see additional restaurants and shops open and expand in the downtown area.”
The all-electric apartments feature amenities such as fireplaces, washer and dryer sets, private balcony, off-street parking and modern decor.
The new unit is adjacent to the property Furnell Companies recently purchased from Home Lumber Co. Construction of the $1.4 million development is anticipated to be completed by August.
Furnell Companies operates the Essex Senior Adult Care Facility, Hotel Bothwell, Cromwell Court and the Furnell Landmark Building, all in downtown Sedalia.
