Mo. Valley defense shuts down Graceland

The Missouri Valley defense held Graceland to 122 yards of total offense as the Vikings picked up their first win of the season, 35-0.

Graceland gained 96 rushing yards on 40 carries and 26 yards through the air on five completions.

The Vikings offense got a pair of second-quarter touchdown carries from jakari Johnson from 33 and 3 yards out. After Joseph Muriel threw a 60-yard touchdown pass to Darrian Turk, the Vikings got rushing scores from Elliott Hawkins and Nijel Daw.

Muriel was 13 for 20 passing for 276 yards. Johnson gained 101 yards on the ground.

The Vikings (1-1) will visit Benedictine on Saturday.

Grandview 27, Central Methodist 8

Central Methodist fell 27-8 to Grandview on Saturday.

The Eagles’ only points of the first half came when they blocked an extra point and returned it for two points.

Entering the second half up 6-2, Grandview outscored CMU 21-6 in the second half to pull away.

The Eagles managed just 106 yards of offense and five first downs in the game.
