Sedalia man injured in crash

A Sedalia man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 9 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of West 16th Street and South Beacon Avenue.

According to a Sedalia Police Department report, Mark B. Shirey, 46, of the 1300 block of South Ohio Avenue, was driving east on West 16th Street when his vehicle’s torque converter malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to change gears. The vehicle traveled off the road and entered the median, striking a tree.

Shirey was taken by Pettis County Ambulance District to Bothwell Regional Health Center for chest pain.

Four injured in Sedalia accident

Four people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 5:51 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and South Engineer Avenue.

According to a Sedalia Police Department report, Morgan P. Stout, 24, of the 100 block of Villa Drive, was driving south on Broadway Boulevard when she approached the Engineer Avenue intersection. She told officers she thought her traffic light was green, and as she crossed through the intersection the passenger side of her vehicle was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by Tiffany M. Mullins, 30, of Hughesville.

Stout’s vehicle slid and started to spin, then struck the traffic signal pole.

Mullins told officers she was unsure if her traffic light was red or green.

Stout and two passengers in her vehicle, Jayla G. Stout, 6, and Raelynne K. Stout, 4, were taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center for their injuries. Mullins was also taken to Bothwell.

Teen injured in Sedalia wreck

A Lincoln teenager was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 12:24 a.m. Sunday in the 4100 block of West Main Street.

According to a Sedalia Police Department report, Drue R. Hammond, 17, of Edwards, said the three friends had been inside the business for several hours and when they came outside, the vehicle was covered in condensation. Hammond drove the vehicle out of the parking lot while still unable to see out of the windshield due to fog and condensation. Hammond began to make a right turn when the vehicle struck a light pole in the parking lot.

A passenger told officers Hammond was turning to try to avoid a collision with another vehicle.

Another passenger, Cheyenne D. Ginn, 14, was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center for her injuries.

Information is taken from preliminary Missouri State Highway Patrol and Sedalia Police Department reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved.
