Outlook: Joining the up-tempo Kaysinger Conference, Otterville is adapting by adopting an up-tempo style.
“I think most people are a little bit lax on offensive skills early in the season, but the ability to push the ball and effort early in the season I think will be as good if not better shape than people that we go up against,” Allen said. “If we can be solid in the transition game early int he year, in my experience, you can be pretty successful at the beginning of the year.”
To prepare for the faster pace, Otterville spent a lot of time in the offseason on conditioning.
“On of the great things about Otterville is we sit on a hill,” Allen said. “Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing for the kids, we’ve made use of that hill.”
The Eagles return Garrett Lynn for his senior year as well as junior Jake Neal.
“Everyone knows who Jake from Otterville is,” Allen said. “He has really listened to me, become more unselfish and I think that makes him more dangerous. He’s willing to trust his teammates a little more in the open court which means he’ll be a little fresher when it is his time and he needs a big bucket.”
