Warrensburg — The Dickens Christmas is returning to Downtown Warrensburg from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 with a variety of holiday fun.
Shop windows in Downtown Warrensburg will come alive with local artists during Dickens Christmas. Horse and Wagon rides will be offered, musicians and carolers will perform and a tree lighting ceremony will feature decorations from children at the Early Childhood Opportunity Center (ECOC).
The Dickens committee is working toward bringing a fun event to the community and is searching for local artists who are interested in demonstrating their craft in downtown businesses. All types of artists are needed, such as woodworking, quilting, jewelry, painting and other types of art. All interested artists please contact Warrensburg Main Street at 429-3988.
Dickens Christmas offers attendees a chance to step back in time as they enjoy the festivities. Families can watch local artists demonstrating their crafts in downtown businesses while enjoying festive music and a cheerful atmosphere.
Dickens will once again include “Tiny Tim’s Soup Contest.” Participating local downtown businesses will have a soup featured in their store for the contest. Customers will purchase a $5 ticket and then be able to walk around and taste each of the different soups entered into the contest.
At the end of the day, the judging sheets will be totaled and a winner will be announced in three different categories. Tickets can be purchased any time after Nov. 13, including the day of Dickens Christmas, in the Warrensburg Main Street office. The soup contest will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.
Those who attend the Dickens event are welcome to dress in period clothing and enjoy the holiday spirit.
