KC Wolf, portrayed by Dan Meers, gets ready to enter the Heber Hunt Elementary gym Thursday afternoon before speaking to the students at an all-school assembly. Meers’ topic was “Don’t be a bully, be a buddy.” For a full story, read the weekend edition of the Sedalia Democrat.
Dan Meers speaks to the elementary students at Heber Hunt about the choices an individual makes and how being a bully is never the right thing to do. “The thing I always try to do is entertain, but walk away leaving the kids with a positive message,” Meers said.
Dan Meers holds the head to the KC Wolf mascot. Meers has been the man in the costume for 26 years. He started his career as another famous mascot, serving as Truman the Tiger for four years in college at the University of Missouri in Columbia. He was also Fred Bird, the St. Louis Cardinals, mascot for a season.
KC Wolf high fives Heber Hunt students as they enter the gym Thursday afternoon for an assembly on bullying. Meers visits 120 schools a year and makes a total of 400 appearances as the mascot for the Kansas City Chiefs each year.
