Sedalia gateway lit blue for the Royals

The gateway to Historic Downtown Sedalia is lit Wednesday night on Ohio Avenue. Dustin Schmidt, electrician for the project, said the LED lights were first turned on early Wednesday morning for a trial run. Members of the Streetscape Committee and representatives from the City of Sedalia were on hand for the first lighting and seemed pleased with the result of the lighting project. The lights will be connected to a control board allowing the colors and patterns of the lights to change, Schmidt said.

The east gateway column is bathed in red Wednesday night. The lights can fade in and out and can be programmed to change colors. The lights will remain on in a random pattern until the control panel is programmed. Workers from KCP&L have been installing the street lamps, and a large portion of the lettering on the metal structure was also placed by Wednesday night.
