
A two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon turned out to be fatal after one of the drivers died Tuesday night at University Hospital in Columbia.
According to a Sedalia Police Department report, SPD officers responded to the area of East Broadway Boulevard and South Marvin Avenue at 2:04 p.m. for a report of an injury accident.
Fredrick J.D. Combs, 62, of Sedalia, was driving south on Marvin Avenue when he pulled into the path of a westbound vehicle on Broadway Boulevard driven by Samuel Wollard, 26, of Sedalia. The two vehicles then collided at the intersection.
Combs was taken to University Hospital in Columbia for “advanced treatment.” He was pronounced dead at 5:32 p.m. by hospital staff.
A passenger in his vehicle, Juanita Combs, was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center for “emergency treatment.” She was later transported to University Hospital for “advanced treatment.”
Wollard declined medical treatment at the scene, but did complain of pain to his chest.
The incident is under investigation.
