Two hurt in Saline crash
Two Marshall women were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 2:10 p.m. Sunday in Saline County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Ethel O. Short, 75, was driving east on Interstate 70 at the 81.4 mile-marker when her vehicle traveled off the right side of the road onto the County Road 116th trail. The vehicle then crossed the trail and struck the guardrail.
Short and a passenger in her vehicle, Hazel J. Desmarais, 76, were both taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall with minor injuries.
Reports indicate both Desmarais and Short were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Three injured in Henry County
Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 3 p.m. Sunday in Henry County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Zane L. Elwell, 16, of Windsor, was driving north on state Route 7 at County Road SE 1001 as Leland E. Maxwell, 91, of Clinton, was driving south. Maxwell attempted to make a left-hand turn onto County Road 1001 when it was struck on its side by Elwell’s vehicle.
Maxwell’s vehicle overturned, struck a stop sign and came to rest on its wheels.
A passenger in Elwell’s vehicle, Jocelyn Rold, 20, of Windsor, was taken by Pettis County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg with moderate injuries. A second Elwell passenger, Charick J. Taylor, 14, of Windsor, was taken by ambulance to Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare in Clinton with minor injuries.
Maxwell was taken by ambulance to GVMH with moderate injuries.
Elwell was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Reports indicate Taylor and Maxwell were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, but Elwell and Rold were not.
Sedalia man arrested for DWI
A Sedalia man was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a two-vehicle accident at 8:25 p.m. Sunday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Ronald R. Jester, 47, was driving a motorcycle west on U.S. Highway 50, a half mile east of County Road NE 501, when he changed lanes and struck another westbound vehicle driven by Jason R. Smith, 40, of Woodbridge, Virginia. Jester’s vehicle overturned and he was ejected.
Jester, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by Life Flight to Research Medical Center in Kansas City with serious injuries.
He was also arrested on charges of driving with a revoked license, careless and imprudent driving involving a crash, failure to register a motor vehicle and no insurance.
