Over Memorial Day weekend, classmates from the Hubbard High School Class of 1967 celebrated their 50th class reunion in Sedalia. They came from California, Texas, Colorado, Kansas City, Columbia and Sedalia. The reunion was unique, as the class members are 67 years old and are the Class of ‘67. They are also the last graduating class from CC Hubbard High School.

Coordinators Denise Buckner Christian, Charles and Carmen Taylor and Rhonda Buckner planned the fun-filled weekend. Friday night they kicked off the weekend with stories by classmates who answered the question, “What have you done in the last 50 years?” Everyone had retired and now works at a part-time job. Darwin Finley retired after 40 years and said, he was “done, no more working.”

Class pictures were taken, and DJ Tony Poindexter kept the music going while Rhonda Buckner acted as bartender. Deceased classmates were acknowledged with a framed picture, a lighted candle and a special poem. After a champagne toast, the class ended the night dancing in the Soul Train Line.

Saturday morning, the class wore T-shirts to the Hubbard School Apartments and had a catered breakfast. Afterwards, they played brain games and then took a tour of the Lincoln-Hubbard Museum.

The highlights of the weekend included a soul food dinner, playing bid whisk, dancing, laughing, renewing friendships and having fun.
