The Sedalia City Council will have a special meeting Monday night to discuss a variety of issues.

Council will be discussing the Klein property rezoning, a possible stop sign at 14th Street and Quincy Avenue, an ordinance regarding temporary business licenses and festivals, Olsson Associates’ recommendations from the lift stations study presented last week, and the city’s social media policy.

After discussions, during the meeting council will:

• Review an ordinance establishing a two-way stop sign on West 14th Street at the intersection of South Quincy Avenue. This item was tabled from last week’s meeting. The Traffic Advisory Commission unanimously recommends approval.

• Award proposal for police operations study. According to information in the meeting packet, the city received six proposals for a Sedalia Police Department operations review. The purpose of the review is to provide suggestions to SPD on ways to improve operations. The review committee, comprised of SPD Chief John DeGonia, Mayor Stephen Galliher, City Attorney Anne Gardner and City Administrator Gary Edwards, recommends the low bid of $13,621 from REJIS in St. Louis.

• Review an ordinance repealing Ordinance No. 10487 regarding the rezoning application for Lawrence J. Klein for property at 1602 S. Harrison Ave., 1606 S. Harrison Ave., and 1618 S. Harrison Ave.

• Review an ordinance amending Section 12-115 of the Code of Ordinances relating to temporary business licenses and festivals.

• Review an ordinance allowing the supplying and selling of natural gas or manufactured gas to the city by Empire District Gas Co.

The Sedalia City Council closed session will begin at 6 p.m. in the mayor’s conference room at the Municipal Building, 200 S. Osage Ave., with the special meeting immediately following. For more information, call 827-3000.
