Kaysinger conference invades Class 1-2 Missouri State Track and Field Meet

Five Kaysinger Conference schools are sending student athletes to the Class 1-2 Missouri State Track and Field Meet after posting qualifying marks in its respective sectional meets last Saturday, May 13 in Belton and Sedalia.

The Cole Camp Lady Bluebirds captured second in the Class 2, Section 3 meet at Tiger Stadium in Sedaila with 88 points, two less than Adrian. Overall, eight Cole Camp athletes in 10 events qualified for state.

Sophomore Lainy Williams won the girl’s 800 meter run in 2 minutes 22.65 seconds and cleared 5 feet 5 inches to claim high jump. Both marks are Cole Camp records. Maddi Cook was runner-up in the high jump, clearing 5-2.

Cook qualified for state with a 31-3 in the triple jump, placing third.

Williams helped sophomores Delaney Dougherty, Tori Harding and Tayler Gudde win the 4×400 meter relay in 4:12.78. Sophomore Braiden Dougherty substituted for Delaney for the 4×800 meter relay, which the Lady Bluebirds won in 10:02.67

Tipton freshmen Tyanna Busch, Ella Claas, Jana Harrison and junior McKenzie Embry were runner-up in the girl’s 4 x 200 relay with a time of 1:53.86. Delaney, Harding, sophomore Ellie Marimon and freshman Jenna Harms of Cole Camp followed at 1:55.51.

The Lady Cardinal 4 x 200 team finished third in the 4 x 100 in 53.95. The Tipton boy’s 4 x 100 meter relay team of juniors Preston Burnett, Dakota Pace and seniors Dylan Becker and Tyler Pierson qualified in a time of 45.87.

Tayler Gudde, who last year — as a freshman — claimed the first-ever Cole Camp, won the girl’s 1,6000 meter in 5:29.73.

Senior thrower Kayla Middleton qualified with a 36-2 1/4 in shot put and 93-11 in discus.

For the boys, freshman Ethan Ives punched his ticket to state with a mark of 40-7 in the triple jump.

Sophomore Isaac Ashton finished second for Tipton in the boy’s 1,600 meter in 4:48.80 and runner-up in the 3,200 meter in 10:37.09. He helped sophomores Kodie Dick and Dalton weaver and freshman Macen Mannering finish the 4×800 meter relay in 8:44.53, placing third.

Tipton sophomore Dalton Weaver was runner-up in boy’s triple jump with a mark of 41-7 1/4.

Windsor advanced a senior and junior to the state meet. Senior Josie Burkhart had a mark of 104-6 in girl’s javelin, placing third. Finishing in 16.15, junior Carlton Fowler was runner-up to Connor Sparks in the 110 meter hurdles.

Green Ridge, in its second season in more than three decades, qualified seven athletes — four freshmen — to the state meet.

Freshman Riley Hagedorn won the girl’s high jump, clearing a personal-best 5-1. Alex Rebikh, freshman, was runner-up in the triple jump with a mark of 21-2 1/4.

Rebikh won the 100 meter dash in 11.86.

Freshmen William Kondratyuk, Harrison Needy, senior Luis Gonzalez and Brandon Williams qualified with a third-place, 1:37.30 finish in the boy’s 4×200 meter relay. The team placed second in the 4×100 with a time of 46.72.

Overall, Green Ridge boy’s track and field finished sixth in team standings, totaling 44 points.

Sacred Heart sophomore Madison McClain won the girl’s long jump with a mark of 12-11 3/4.

Stover senior Alex Haag set a personal-best, clearing 6-1 in the boy’s high jump to qualify for state.

Day one of the Class 1-2 Missouri State Track and field Championships begin 9:30 a.m. Friday at Adkins Stadium at Jefferson City High School in Jefferson City.
