Sedalia man arrested for DWI
A Sedalia man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle accident at 1:05 a.m. Monday in Pettis County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Robert L. Smith, 27, was driving north on Goodwill Chapel Road at McVey Road when he failed to stop for a stop sign and traveled across McVey Road. His vehicle then struck a tree.
Smith, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center with moderate injuries. A passenger in his vehicle, Karen N. Metz, 30, of Sedalia, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Bothwell with serious injuries.
Smith was also arrested on a requested charge of careless and imprudent driving.
