2 Marshall residents killed

Two Marshall residents were killed in two vehicle accident at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Saline County.

Janice L Jones, 80, of Marshall was driving northbound on U.S. 65 Highway when she failed to yield to a vehicle driven by Nathaniel D. Offield, 38 of Marshall according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Offield and a passenger Shelly L. Offield, 37, also of Marshall were both ejected from the vehicle.

Nathaniel Offield was pronounced dead at Fitzgibbon’s Hospital at 6:55 p.m. by Dr. Murphy. Shelly Offield was pronounced dead at Fitzgibbon Hospital at 6:46 p.m by Dr. Turner.

Jones was transported by private vehicle to Fitzgibbon’s Hospital as a precaution.

Reports indicate all parties were wearing safety devices at the time of the accident.

Clinton woman injured in wreck

A Clinton woman was injured in a one vehicle accident at 12:40 p.m. Friday in Benton County.

Lucinda S. Huckaby, 62, of Clinton, was traveling west on state Route C eight- tenths of a mile of Belle Road when her vehicle crossed the center of the road striking the side of the bridge. The vehicle then crossed back over the center of the road and struck the bridge rail, ejecting the driver. The unoccupied vehicle continued traveling west, again crossing the road and striking the bridge. The vehicle then came to an uncontrolled rest facing west in the eastbound lane according to a preliminary Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Huckaby, who reports indicate was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident was transported to University Medical Center in Columbia by Life Flight Eagle for treatment of serious injuries.

2 injured in Benton County

Two people were injured in a two vehicle accident at 11:45 a.m. Friday in Benton County.

The accident occurred when a vehicle driven by Shyla D. Williams, 15, of Lincoln,was stopped at a stop sign at state Route HH at Old U.S. 65 Highway Avenue traveling northbound. Williams, pulled into the pathway of a vehicle driven by Cody M. Bennefeld, 23, of Windsor who was traveling east. Bennefeld’s vehicle was struck at an angle. Both vehicles came to a rest at the northeast intersection of the roadway before Bennefeld’s vehicle caught on fire, causing both vehicles to burn according to a preliminary Missouri State Highway Patrol Report.

Two passengers in Williams vehicle, Allison R. Self, 13, of Lincoln, and Bo A. Williams, 13, also of Lincoln were transported by Life-Flight to the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. Self suffered moderate injuries and Williams suffered serious injuries in the crash.

Reports indicate both Shyla Williams and Bennefeld were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

Independence main hurt in wreck

A man suffered minor injuries in a one vehicle accident at 11:17 a.m. Friday in Johnson County.

James W. Sullivan, 48, of Independence, was driving west on U.S. Highway 50 just east of northwest 1201 in the right lane when the vehicle he was driving began to slide on the wet pavement. Sullivan’s vehicle traveled into the median, striking a ditch and overturning before coming to a rest on its tires, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Sullivan, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, was transported by ambulance to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence for treatment of minor injuries.
