A La Monte man is facing multiple sexual abuse charges, including statutory rape.
Adan Aguilar-Cardenas, 44, has been charged with fourth degree child molestation, first degree sodomy, first degree statutory rape and two counts of incest. He is at the Pettis County Jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
Aguilar-Cardenas is accused of raping and molesting a 14-year-old female on numerous occasions over the last three years.
According to court documents, the victim had an interview April 7 at Child Safe of Central Missouri Inc. She told her interviewer she could remember a time at age 11 when Aguilar-Cardenas came into her room at night and touched her inappropriately, court documents state. She said after that incident things escalated to rape.
“(The victim) said she was afraid of (Aguilar-Cardenas) and didn’t try to stop him as she feared he would harm her or her mother,” court documents state.
Documents state the abuse stopped from November 2016 to March, with the latest incident happening in early April. The victim told her interviewer she tried to protect herself by blocking Aguilar-Cardenas’ grabs, but she was unable to because he is stronger than she is, with the incident ending in the victim being sodomized, documents state.
The victim then told her mother what happened.
Aguilar-Cardenas was interviewed April 11 at the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office. After a short conversation with a detective, Aguilar-Cardenas invoked his right to having a lawyer present before any further questioning, according to court documents.
Online court documents show Aguilar-Cardenas has one prior conviction in 2002 for passing a bad check.
An arraignment took place Thursday morning at the Pettis County Courthouse.
