Cole Camp, 2016-17 tri-champions of the Kaysinger Conference and Class 3, District 13 champions, concluded its season Wednesday, March 1, at Harrisonville High School in Harrisonville in a loss to Hogan Prep, 78-40.
“(Hogan Prep) plays a pressure defense we just don’t see throughout the year,” head coach Dan Schnell said. “They were just extremely quick.”
Kendrick Logan led Cole Camp with 15 points and Reece Henning finished with nine.
Three Hogan Prep players led 11 scoring teammates with 12 points.
Schnell said the Bluebirds, which won 20 of its last 23 games, clicked, and drastically improved after an early-season practice.
“I am so proud of this group of young men,” Schnell said. “I think we were even better today than we were two weeks ago. I’m very proud of everything they’ve done.
“We started the season 2-4 and we were wondering where we were at and where we were going. We had a practice and hit a spot where we just started clicking … and these guys took off.”
The Bluebirds (22-7) won six straight going into Class 3 sectional play, including a 49-47 win over Sacred Heart to end the regular season, and a 63-57 victory against California, 63-57, to seal its first district championship since 1994.
