Cole Camp 63, California 57
Cole Camp won its third district championship in school history Saturday, Feb. 25, with a 63-57 win against the California Pintos.
The two previous Bluebird district championships were in 1983 and 1994.
Austin Berendzen, who was 9-for-14 from the free-throw line, led Cole Camp with 22 points.
Brady Smith had 17 points, Trace Brandes scored eight, Kendrick Logan had six and Reece Henning and eli Schroeder finished with five points each.
California was led by Isaac Ash with 20 points, followed by Wyatt Bestgen with 13.
Cole Camp (22-6) play Hogan Prep 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 at Harrisonville High School in the Class 3 state tournament.
COLLEGE BASEBALL
Fort Scott Community College 3, State Fair Community College 0
The Roadrunners lost game one of a Saturday doubleheader in Fort Scott, Kansas, 3-0 to Fort Scott Community College.
State Fair held to a pair of baserunners against FSCC starter Justin O’Laughlin (3-0). Kobie Schmitt picked up his second save. of the season.
Chase Plymell (1-1) took the loss for SFCC, allowing three runs on five hits in five innings.

State Fair halted a last-ditch effort from Fort Scott in the bottom of the seventh to split Saturday’s doubleheader, 9-7.
The Roadrunners entered the final frame with a 9-4 lead, but three Greyhound runs made it a 2-run game late.
Roberto Ramierez earned his first win, tossing six innings and surrendering four runs on four hits.
Tanner Cantrell picked up two RBIs with two hits, including a double. Chris De Los Santos hit a solo home run.
SFCC (3-2) host Crowder College 1 p.m. Thursday for a doubleheader at Liberty Park in Sedalia.
Spencer Reaves named MIAA Basketball Player of the Week
Central Missouri junior guard Spencer Reaves was named the MIAA Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week after his performance in two UCM wins last week, helping the Mules secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming MIAA Tournament.
Reaves averaged 24.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 73 percent from the field in the two games. In the win at Missouri Southern, he shot 7-of-11 from the field, including four three-pointers in a 22-point, three-rebound, two-assist performance. In the Senior Day win over Pittsburg State, the Newark, Ark. native came off the bench to score a season-high 26 points on 9-of-11 shooting. He was a perfect 10-of-1 at the free throw line and made 6-of-10 three-point attempts.
The Mules open MIAA Tournament play on Thursday afternoon, March 2, at 2:30 p.m. at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City. The second-seeded Mules take on the winner of seventh-seeded Central Oklahoma and 10th-seeded Emporia State.
