A Sedalia man has been arrested for an armed robbery that occurred earlier this month.

According to a Pettis County Sheriff’s Office news release, Jesse R. Roberts, 23, of the 600 block of East Ninth Street, was arrested Tuesday and was formally charged Wednesday with first degree robbery, first degree burglary, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and armed criminal action.

Around 11 a.m. Feb. 10, deputies responded to a report of a burglary and armed robbery in the 6500 block of Monsees Drive. Two males reportedly entered the residence and displayed a firearm, taking the victim’s wallet and cell phone, according to the release. The suspects fled the area in a red vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Roberts, who has been issued a $100,000 bond, cash or surety, was arrested Tuesday following an investigation into the incident.

According to the release, the case is still considered active and ongoing, and an additional arrest is pending.

Online court documents state a hearing took place Thursday. Roberts appeared by video, claiming he was under the influence of methamphetamine. The hearing was continued to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pettis County Courthouse for attorney status.

Roberts was also arrested Tuesday for a trespassing charge he was initially arrested for in November 2016 by the Sedalia Police Department; a warrant was issued Jan. 20. He was arraigned Tuesday, where he entered a plea of not guilty and was sentenced to two days in the Pettis County Jail.

Roberts has also been previously convicted of burglary, assault and various drug charges, according to online court records.
