A Shawnee, Kansas, man sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 4:30 a.m. Monday in Pettis County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Ethan R. Jackson, 25, of Warsaw, was driving his vehicle north on U.S. Highway 65, two-tenths of a mile south of Anderson School Road, as Richard J. Moore, 57, was also driving his motorcycle north. Jackson’s vehicle struck the rear of Moore’s vehicle, ejecting Moore.

Jackson’s vehicle became entangled with Moore’s motorcycle and both vehicles traveled off the right side of the road into a ditch.

Moore was taken by Pettis County Ambulance District to Research Medical Center in Kansas City for his injuries.

Reports indicate Jackson was not wearing a seat belt and Moore was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Information is taken from preliminary Missouri State Highway Patrol and Sedalia Police Department reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved.
