The Windsor Lady Greyhounds held off Crest Ridge in a 40-38 victory at the Lotspiech Central Missouri Shootout at the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg on Saturday.
Windsor’s boys failed to sustain its first-half pace and fell 50-35 to the Cougars. The Greyhound halftime lead, 21-17, slipped away after a scoring drought in the third quarter allowed a 13-0 Crest Ridge run.
Greyhound head coach Ben Monaco said Windsor’s intensity dropped after the first half.
“In the second half, we struggled offensively,” Monaco said. “I think our struggles offensively led to some frustration in our defense.”
Blake Chancey led Windsor with 12 points. The Greyhounds totaled 19 turnovers.
Down four at halftime, the Cougars quickly tied Windsor at 21 and pushed its lead to nine before Camden Allee ended the Greyhound scoreless streak with 1:24 remaining in the third quarter. Carlton Fowler made it 30-25 with a fast-break score on the next possession, and Windsor trailed 34-25 entering the final period.
Windsor hosts a boy’s and girl’s varsity doubleheader with Drexel 5:30 p.m., Monday.
