Icy deep-freeze designs

Looking like deep-freeze diamonds, ice simmers in the sunlight late Wednesday morning at Clover Dell Lake. Plummeting temperatures caused many lakes and ponds to begin freezing again overnight. The National Weather Service issued a weather advisory for Pettis County stating that the area could receive 1 to 2 inches of snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Frozen portions of Clover Dell Lake created abstract patterns in the ice as it froze vegetation near the shore Wednesday morning.

Ice began to build up Wednesday morning near the shoreline of Clover Dell Lake as temperatures continued to fall overnight. The low is expected to be 6 degrees Thursday, although by Tuesday the temperature will climb back into the low 50s.
