Bing’s Supermarkets, a local family-owned business, announced Wednesday night that both Bing’s East and West will close effective Nov. 8.

The following post appeared on the Bing’s East Facebook page at approximately 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.

“Well folks today is a sad sad day. We were notified that our stores (Bing’s East and West) will be closing on Nov 8th. They really didn’t give a reason other than they had to close them. Thank you all for your support over the years. We will miss each and everyone of our customers.”

Company officials could not be reached for comment Wednesday evening. It has been rumored for several months Woods Supermarket will purchase both stores, however, repeated attempts to confirm this with Woods’ Corporate offices and the owners of Bing’s were unsuccessful.

Neither have released any information to the Democrat on the pending sale of the stores.

On July 30, corporate management at Woods announced the purchase of the customer prescriptions from both Bing’s pharmacies. They opened a Woods Pharmacy adjacent to the Bing’s West location in the State Fair Shopping Center.
