The Sedalia City Council will be discussing a new construction project at the Sedalia Regional Airport during tonight’s meeting.
If two items are approved tonight, the airport will get a new taxiway along with other repairs.
Council will review bids and an ordinance approving and accepting an agreement with Emery Sapp & Sons Inc. for the reconstruction and widening of the apron connecting the taxiway, replacement of the MITL system, replacement of damaged drain pipe and end section and regrading of Runway 18-36 safety area at the Sedalia Regional Airport.
According to information in the meeting packet, the city is responsible for 10 percent of the cost, which is $36,046.46. The remaining portion is funded through a grant.
Council will also review an ordinance approving and accepting Aviation Project Consultant Supplemental Agreement No. 1 with H.W. Lochner Inc. for the addition of construction phase services to the design services contract for the apron connecting taxiway reconstruction project, which means Lochner will oversee the construction work for the city.
During the meeting Mayor Stephen Galliher will present service awards to Park Department Maintenance Tech II Charles Amos for 20 years of service, Police Officer Andrew Silvey for 10 years of service, City Administrator Gary Edwards for five years of service, Police Officer Kyle Hayward for five years of service and Sanitation Department Service Worker Raunel Reynoso for five years of service.
During the meeting council will also:
• Review an ordinance approving and accepting an agreement with Gaskin Hill Norcross of Missouri Inc. for architectural services relating to the construction of a new Sedalia Police Department Headquarters and renovations to select areas of the Sedalia Municipal Building. Council approved GHN as the project’s architect during a special meeting Aug. 22.
• Review an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 9940 relating to amending a classification and job description for Police Officer for SPD and adding a classification and job description for Police Recruit. According to information in the meeting packet, this classification allows for a differentiation between a fully trained officer and one that has not completed required training.
• Review an ordinance amending Section 7.15(C) (controlled substance and alcohol testing policy applicability) of the city’s Personnel Regulations Manual by adding the title of Police Recruit for SPD to the employee positions designated as safety sensitive.
• Review an ordinance amending Section 48-53 of the city’s Code of Ordinances by included a reduced fee for recycling services in all K-12 schools located within the corporate city limits of Sedalia and incorporating all said fees in the city’s Fee Schedule.
• Review an ordinance repealing Ordinance 10478 and amending Section 48-49(E) of the Code of Ordinances by establishing pick-up on demand services and an optional yard waste collection and associated fee and incorporating said fee into the Fee Schedule.
• Review an ordinance approving and accepting a refund agreement with Waste Corporation of Missouri LLC for repayment in full of sewer fees overpaid. According to information in the meeting packet, WCA overpaid the city $27,207.35. The Public Works Department negotiated a non-cash reimbursement of city compost in the amount of $27,250.
• Review bids for the demolition of the structure at 2500 E. Seventh St. Three responses were received and city staff recommends the low bidder, Schultz Wrecking for $4,500.
