Sept. 1 Police Reports

This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 30

10:08 a.m.: Ralph Alec Morlock, 41, of the 1800 block of South Grand Avenue, was arrested in the 1200 block of East Broadway Boulevard on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. An officer was attempting to locate an individual who reportedly harmed himself. The officer made contact with the man and after he concluded his investigation he located items of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The man was taken into custody and booked and released at the Pettis County Jail. It was also determined the man was not suicidal and did not wish to harm others.

5:55 p.m.: Marilyn Proscoria Smith, 59, of the 400 block of North Mill Street, was arrested at her residence on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and second degree domestic assault. Officers responded to a report of a disturbance. Contact was made with the female victim who said she was assaulted by another female while at the residence. After further investigation, it was discovered an assault had taken place. The female suspect was taken into custody.

10:09 p.m.: Paul Lawrence Hartelt, 36, of the 400 block of Welch Court, was arrested near the intersection of West 16th Street and South Grand Avenue on a charge of driving with a suspended license.

Incidents

Aug. 29

11:05 a.m.: An officer responded to a report of animal neglect in the 2200 block of East Broadway Boulevard. The officer met with the homeowner, who was going through the residence after the previous tenants moved out. While going through the home he found a dead dog and a dead cat in the bathroom.

9:04 p.m.: A hit-and-run vehicle accident was reported near the intersection of South Park Avenue and West 32nd Street. Witnesses said a driver lost control of their vehicle on Park Avenue and skidded through the intersection, hitting a tree. The suspect left the area before an officer arrived.

Aug. 30

6:43 a.m.: The passenger window of a vehicle was reported shattered in the 500 block of West Sixth Street. An inhaler, notebooks and $3 in cash were reported stolen from the vehicle.

10:18 p.m.: An officer responded to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a report of an assault in the 1500 block of East 16th Street. The victim said they were assaulted at Centennial Park near the playground. The suspect threw a scooter at the victim’s legs, then hit the right side of the victim’s abdomen.
