The Warrensburg Lady Tigers shot a team score of 191 at the Sedalia Country Club in Sedalia to claim victory at a quad meet Monday.
Kayla Kimbley fired a 9-hole score of 45, one stroke behind Sacred Heart medalist Claire Sobaski, to lead Warrensburg over the Gremlins, Smith-Cotton and Green Ridge.
Smith-Cotton finished with a team score of 213 with Sacred Heart three strokes behind.
Madison Billingsley was the lone varsity golfer for Green Ridge, shooting a 57. While short on varsity golfers, Green Ridge played four golfers on the junior varsity card.
Green Ridge head coach Molly Needy said she expected just two golfers going into the season — one of which was absent Monday. She was excited to see more interest in the team.
“That was something we did not anticipate,” Needy said. “We were pleasantly surprised.”
Kimbley and Sobaski edged the field with a bogey on the par-4, No. 3 hole.
Sobaski, who practices at Sedalia Country Club five times a week and once during weekends, was the only golfer to birdie hole No. 4. She was not too high or low after Monday’s round.
“Just a normal day,” Sobaski said. “I was trying to hit it straight down the middle every time, try not to get into trouble in the trees too much.”
Smith-Cotton, hosts of Monday’s event, invite Warrensburg, Helias and Jefferson City to the Sedalia Country Club on Monday, Aug. 19.
