Results from the MRCA Missouri State Fair Rodeo were recently released.
Billy Griffin claimed $556.48 winning the barebacks competition. Griffin, of Lee’s Summit, edged Maryville rider Russell Redden. Matt Bolton, of Marshall, and Jesse Pope of Garnett, Kansas, tied for third on the 12-entry card.
Winterset, Iowa native, Tegan Smith, earned a $1,278 payout in saddle bronc riding and top-ranked Missouri High School Rodeo rider Gavin Michel won a $2,143 payout in bull riding. Michel, a Nixa native, committed to Texas A&M-Commerce in May to compete on the rodeo team.
Cole Wilson, from Osage City, Kansas, won the calf roping competition with a time of 8.5 seconds for a $858.98 payout. Jeff Kolbe was runner-up while Cody Huber and Will Morris tied for third.
Gary Glam won the over-40 calf roping won a $708.76 payout with a time of 10.4 seconds. Doug Hazelbaker, of Redfield, Kansas, was second in 12 seconds.
Manhattan, Kansas rider Chancey Larson took home a $676.80 payout as steer wrestling champion with a time of 3.9 seconds. Sedalia native Tyrel Reichert and Holden resident Merle Wadel recorded times of 4.4 seconds and earned $507.60 apiece.
Ashley Jennings, of New Bloomfield, won the girls’ barrel racing with a time of 16.126 seconds for a $940.47 payout.
California, Missouri rider Billi Galliher and Hallsville native Molly Alexander finished second and third, respectively.
Andy Hilton and Dalton Vaughn claimed the team roping competition — a card of 114 entries — in 4.7 seconds to claim $1,049 apiece.
Marshall cowgirl Taylor Mason edged runner-up Paige Wiseman by a tenth of a second to claim an $832.37 payout. Wiseman, of Paola, Kansas, won $723.80.
