Sacred Heart’s Olivia Sobaski won the Class 1, District 5 title and the Gremlins won the team title on Monday at the Sedalia Country Club.
Sobaski shot a four-under-par 66 to win the individual title by 15 strokes over Jensen Bauer of Stover.
Sobaski opened her day with a birdie on the par-4 first, then added birdies on four and six and an eagle on nine to make the turn at 31.
Of the six par-3s on the course, Sobaski birdied the fourth and 17th and shot even par on the rest.
“Overall, I can’t complain,” she said of her play on par-3s. “We weren’t playing them super long so it’s nice to not have a long iron into those greens.”
Sacred Heart shot a 380 as a team to beat second-place Odessa by 53 strokes. Claire Sobaski shot a 97 to take sixth place, Abby Smeltzer shot a 108, Juliana Bourgeret shot a 109 and Anjanae Williams shot a 142.
Bauer was second overall with an 81 but came through with the shot of the day, a hole-in-one on the fourth with a seven-iron.
“I hit it a little short and it bounced on,” Bauer said. “I watched it and there was a shadow over the hole so I didn’t see it any more and we looked up there and it was in.”
It is her second hole-in-one. She had one during a practice round at Versailles.
Bauer drove with a four-iron most of the day after having trouble getting accuracy with her driver, but it didn’t slow her down. She shot a 41 on the front-nine and 40 on the back-nine.
Green Ridge’s Madison Billingsley took 10th, shooting a 102. Opening her round on the 10th, she started with an even par on the par-3 10th and shot 48 for the back-nine.
Looking to close out the day strong, she shot even par on the sixth and eighth. On six, she nearly chipped in. She had chipped in from the fringe on the third hole. Though she said chipping was once a weakness of her game, on Monday it was a strength.
“My coach drilled that into me this year; chipping every day at practice, lots of it,” Billingsley said. “Chips, from close, I can be within 10 feet.”
On the eighth, she landed her tee shot in the fairway and rolled her second onto the green before two-putting.
For the day she shot four pars and birdied the par-4 14th.
Elizabeth Craig of Cole Camp shot a 105 to take 11th. She found rough with her drive on the sixth and a tree with her second shot, then left her first shot short on the par-3 seventh, but found fairway with her drive on the eighth.
CLASS 2, DISTRICT 6
Two Smith-Cotton golfers advanced out of the Class 2, District 6 meet in Kansas City.

Warrensburg’s Taylor BeDell shot a 73 to take first.
Warrensburg won the team championship with a 335. Carl Junction was second with a 361. Smith-Cotton took sixth with a 397.
