Chris Mergen scored four times as the Sacred Heart soccer team beat Smithton 8-0 on Thursday. Sergio Justiniano scored three goals.
Mergen opened the scoring in the 10th minute, then added another in the 12th. Max Martin set up Justiniano for his first goal of the night in the 17th minute. Justiniano scored unassisted in the 22nd.
In the second half, Will Prenger assisted on a Mergen goal in the 52nd minute. Justiniano scored in the 54th assisted by Francisco Rojas. Teagan Trammell then assisted on a goal for Prenger and Mergen capped off the scoring for the Gremlins.
Sacred Heart won the junior varsity game 3-0.
Smithton won the junior high game 2-0.
