This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 17

4:17 a.m.: Melvin Leon Ward Jr., of the 500 block of East 14th Street, was arrested at his residence on charges of violation of a Full Order of Protection and driving with a revoked license. Officers responded to a domestic disturbance. The female victim said she had an argument with the suspect, who left the area in her vehicle. Dispatch informed the officers the suspect had an active Full Order of Protection and a revoked license. The suspect was later located and arrested.

July 16

9:25 a.m.: Two 26-inch Road Master mountain bikes and a Next mountain bike were reported stolen in the 300 block of East 14th Street.

July 17

10:13 p.m.: Officers responded to a report of a vehicle on fire. Sedalia Fire Department firefighters extinguished the fire. Officers made contact with the victim and subjects in the area. No one saw anyone around the vehicle prior to seeing it on fire.

July 14

4:31 p.m.: Kenneth A. Williams, 48, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of speeding, resisting arrest by fleeing, failure to drive within the right lane, failure to move over when approaching an emergency vehicle with emergency lights activated, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle with emergency lights activated, failure to signal and careless and imprudent driving.

11:04 p.m.: Joseph R. Martin, 31, of Centertown, was arrested in Moniteau County on a charge of driving with a revoked license.

11:21 p.m.: Sonyia M. Mealer, 30, of Belton, was arrested in Henry County on charges of possession of marijuana, failure to drive within the right lane of the highway and speeding.

11:21 p.m.: Elise D. Hatfield, 30, of Pleasant Hill, was arrested in Henry County on a charge of possession of marijuana.

July 15

7:40 p.m.: Brian J. Wilson, 33, of Emporia, Kansas, was arrested in Morgan County on charges of wake violation and boating while intoxicated.

11:52 p.m.: Nathaniel P. Bayless, 20, of Leeton, was arrested in Henry County on charges of possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and no seat belt.

July 16

1:40 a.m.: Kevin J. Hontz, 27, of Hughesville, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated and no insurance.

5:39 p.m.: Robert G. Vaught, 54, of Lenexa, Kansas, was arrested in Henry County on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

6:15 p.m.: Gabriel S. Vaughan, 43, of East Lynne, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, no seat belt and following too close.

July 17

12:28 a.m.: Hunter C. Heimericks, 18, of California, Missouri, was arrested in Moniteau County on charges of possession of liquor by a minor and failure to drive on the right half of the road.

1:19 a.m.: Ricky K. Ashley, 24, of Overland Park, Kansas, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of possession of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

4:32 p.m.: Austin M. Soorus, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested in Benton County on charges of driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving and no seat belt.
