Missouri ends season 7-0 to Vanderbilt
Patrick Raby allowed four baserunners in six innings to help blank Missouri 7-0, ending the Tigers’ season in the opening round of the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament.
Tanner Houck pitched five scoreless innings before allowing four runs on two hits and two errors. Center fielder Bryan Reynolds put the Commodores on the board with a 2-RBI double. Vanderbilt collected three more runs in the eighth inning.
Tigers baseball has yet beat sixth-ranked Vanderbilt, trailing 0-14 in the all-time series.
In a release on the Missouri Tigers athletics website, head coach Tim Jamieson said it was going to be a difficult tournament for No. 11-ranked Mizzou, considering the level of competition.
“We didn’t have enough pieces to compete with the best teams in the league and there are some really, really good teams in our league – at least eight of them that have a chance to go to Omaha. If other teams get hot they do too. We did okay with the teams at the bottom of the league but we did not handle the teams at the top. We kind of showed that again today. Vanderbilt played well but we are just not quite as strong as they are.”
Vanderbilt advances to play No. 3 Texas A&M tomorrow in the SEC tournament at 9:30 p.m. in Hoover, Alabama.
