The Lincoln Cardinal golf team qualified for the state tournament with a second-place finish at Class 1, Sectional golf tournament Monday at Hoots Hollow Golf Course in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Will Prenger, who finished second individually, Jack Lucchesi and Chris Mergen will qualified for the state tournament at Freemont Hills in Nixa, Missouri for Sacred Heart.
Prenger fired a 76 on the day behind Monday’s medalist, Greenwood’s Tony Brandt. Brandt shot a 74 to lead Greenwood to a team sectionals victory.
Boone Kroenke finished with a 79 to tie for third.
Peyton Needy, competing for Green Ridge, also qualified for the state tournament finishing eighth with an 82.
Lucchesi shot an 85 for Sacred Heart and finished 12th.
Lincoln teammates Cody Gregory and Trevor Kroenke tied for 13th firing an 86.
Windsor finished fourth as a team, and was led by state qualifier Jack Daughtery, who shot an 87 on the day.

Smithton qualifies three for track and field sectionals
Smithton track and field student-athletes Alyssa Huddleston, Jacob Merdrano and Whitney Fisher advanced to sectionals in various events after competing in the Class 1, District 6 meet last weekend.
Fisher placed fourth in the triple jump to advance to Saturday’s state sectional meet at Clinton.
Huddleson finished third in the 100 meter hurdles and 300m intermediate hurdles to qualify for sectionals.
Medrano also finished third in the 100m hurdles and fourth in the 300m intermediate hurdles.
