May 4 Police Reports

This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

April 29

5:42 p.m.: Melvin Leon Ward Jr., 32, of the 500 block of East 14th Street, was arrested at his residence on a charge of possession of marijuana and order of protection violation. Officers responded to a disturbance and found a male and female struggling over a cell phone in the yard. It was discovered there was an order of protection regarding the two subjects. A bag of marijuana was found on the suspect as he was being searched to be arrested.

April 30

6:38 a.m.: Bobby D. Bishop, 40, no address given, was arrested in the 1400 block of West Main Street on a charge of second degree domestic assault.

8:21 p.m.: Jennifer L. Fisher, 30, of La Monte, was issued a municipal court summons in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for stealing. The complainant reported they observed the suspect put a purse on her shoulder, removed the tag and did not pay for the item.

May 1

9:15 a.m.: Jesus I. Ubaldo, 22, of the 700 block of Wilkerson Street, was arrested near the intersection of East 16th Street and South Engineer Avenue on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. SPD received a report of a black vehicle that hit a utility pole in the area and drove away. The vehicle was located in the 1700 block of South New York Avenue.

3:57 p.m.: David Allen Maldonado, 27, of Hannibal, was arrested in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. The suspect was involved in a shoplifting incident and a search of the vehicle revealed marijuana and cocaine.

4:19 p.m.: Katie M. Mickles, 30, of Osage Beach, was arrested in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard on charges of stealing, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. An officer located a vehicle after being alerted to a shoplifting incident and conducted a traffic stop. A female matching the suspect description fled the passenger side of the vehicle and was later captured in a residence.

6:23 p.m.: Brianna Nicole Johnson, 31, no address given, was arrested near the intersection of South Osage Avenue and West Fourth Street on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. During an arrest for a warrant, methamphetamine and marijuana were found.

May 2

8:13 p.m.: Michael M. Bunting, 33, of the 700 block of Wilkerson Street, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, felony possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, and three counts of third degree assault on a law enforcement officer. Officers responded to a possible burglary-in-progress. Upon arrival they discovered the suspect was someone who lived at the residence. He resisted arrest, causing minor injury to three officers and himself. A search revealed he was in possession of drugs. Bunting was also arrested for a total of six warrants from Lee’s Summit and Jackson County, totaling a $30,800 bond, cash or surety.

Incidents

April 21

2:50 p.m.: A hit-and-run vehicle accident was reported near the intersection of West Fourth Street and South Ohio Avenue. An older white male driving a blue passenger vehicle reportedly pulled into a parking space and hit another vehicle. The suspect was located and possible charges are pending.

April 30

5:40 p.m.: A movie replica James Bond pistol, laptop, sound bar and two computer speakers were reported stolen from a residence in the 1000 block of South Ohio Avenue. There were no signs of forced entry.

May 1

10:35 a.m.: The back window of a vehicle was reported shattered in a parking lot near the intersection of West Ninth Street and South Park Avenue, causing $250 in damage. A large rock was found on the back floorboard.

1:41 p.m.: A sex crime was reported in the 200 block of East Saline Street that occurred about three weeks ago.

May 2

10:30 p.m.: A male victim reported a male subject punched him in the face in the 700 block of South Lafayette Avenue and then fled the area. The victim was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment of his injuries.

May 2

12:43 a.m.: Theodore J. Steinmeyer, 67, of Leawood, Kansas, was arrested in Saline County on charges of driving while intoxicated and speeding.

4:21 a.m.: Javier Flores Ramirez, 26, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated and no valid license.
