Man injured in Johnson crash
A Warrensburg man sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 2:35 p.m. Thursday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Nathan A. Gross, 34, was driving north on state Route 13 at state Route H when he attempted to make a left-hand turn. A northbound vehicle driven by Shaniece A. Martin, 22, of Higginsville, failed to yield and struck the rear of Gross’ vehicle.
Gross was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence for his injuries.
Reports indicate Martin was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident but Gross was not.
Knob Noster pedestrian seriously injured
A Knob Noster woman sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle and pedestrian accident at 3:50 p.m. Thursday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a westbound vehicle was stopped in in the roadway on state Route 2, 339 feet west of County Road SW 101, and its operator was trying to flag down help. Sean M. Cordova, 30, of Leeton, was driving west as he came over a hill crest approaching the parked vehicle.
Cordova attempted to stop, causing his vehicle to start sliding. His vehicle then struck the pedestrian, Melissa R. Palmer, 20, and the parked vehicle.
Palmer was taken by Life Flight to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence for her injuries.
Edwards teen killed in Benton crash
An Edwards teenager was killed in a two-vehicle accident at 8:40 p.m. Thursday in Benton County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Jordon M. Powers, 17, was driving west on state Route BB when he failed to stop at a stop sign and traveled into the path of a northbound vehicle on U.S. Highway 65 driven by Eugene E. Hayes, 64, of Lincoln.
Hayes’ vehicle struck Powers’ vehicle, and after impact Powers’ vehicle rotated and both occupants were ejected.
Powers was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Charles of Research Medical Center in Kansas City at 9:49 p.m.
A passenger in Powers’ vehicle, Mason L. Flippin, 17, of Warsaw, was taken by Staff for Life to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries. Hayes was taken by private vehicle to an unknown hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
Reports indicate Hayes was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, but Flippin was not. It is unknown if Powers was wearing a seat belt.
Warsaw man injured in accident
A Warsaw man sustained moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 11 p.m. Thursday in Benton County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Timothy B. Stutez, 38, was driving south on Cold Springs Road, seven-tenths of a mile south of state Route 7, when his motorcycle traveled off the road. The vehicle impacted a ditch and Stutez was ejected.
Stutez, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance District to Bothwell Regional Health Center for his injuries.
