Quick hits: S-C JV led by Martin and Stringham

Smith-Cotton Junior High’s boys team took fourth place and the girls were sixth Thursday afternoon in the SCJH Open track meet at Tiger Stadium.

S-C’s Sophie Martin was first in the girls triple jump, second in the 100-meter dash and fourth in the 400 meters. Other top finishers for the Lady Tigers: Tanya Varshytska, second in the girls 100-meter hurdles; Katie Monks, third in the girls 200 meters; Alyssa Hagan, fourth in the girls long jump; and Ana Zalpa, second in the girls discus.

On the boys side, Ben Stringham was second in the boys 100-meter hurdles and Juan Herrera was second in the boys 1600 meters. Other top finishers for the Tigers: Michael Coleman, fourth in the boys 100-meter hurdles; Michael Frain, fifth in the boys 400 meters; Stringham, fifth in the boys 200 meters; Camden Gear, third in the boys pole vault; Terrell Peck, fourth in the boys triple jump; and Tyler Smith, third in the boys discus.

Clinton Middle School was first in the girls division and Boonville won the boys division.
