Hoover painted small items of interest in her four-panel mural, including these tiny morel mushrooms growing beneath a flowering dogwood tree. Hoover said Kiburz called her Jan. 29 about painting the mural and she finished the piece two weeks ago. She worked on the project in SCHS art teacher Michael Shukers’ class. Kiburz said children need to be encouraged to think about conservation of the environment. “We have to engage our youth through education, our teachers and the arts,” he added.
